Title

Exercises in Laboratory Physics For Secondary Schools

Description

A popular high-school physics exercise book from the early 20th century. This copy was owned by Nola Allene Loflin (1919-2021), known as "Allene" to friends and family. She assumed the surname "McDowell" when she married John Alvin McDowell in 1945. This book contains her handwritten physics work, as well as several doodles and poems, from her time as a student at Farmer High School, Aseboro, North Carolina during the 1934-35 school year, when she would have been 15-16 years old. Commentary on Allene's doodles by her school friend, Pallie Lowe, is also present. It was passed down to her son, David Lenvil McDowell, after her death; he gave it to his granddaughter, Addison Rebecca McDowell, as a gift in 2022.
