Description
This recreation of the iconic Saturday Night Live stage at the Museum of Broadcast Communications in Chicago illustrates how modern satirical performance continues traditions established by 18th-century satire. Just as satirists used public performances and print to critique society, politics, and human folly, the Saturday Night Live stage demonstrates how contemporary satire employs performance, parody, and comedic impersonation to influence public opinion. This photo shows a small stage that is backlit with purple, blue, and red lighting. There are several musical instruments on the right and left sides of the stage, and a single door in the middle. In the foreground, there are multiple rows of chairs for the audience to sit in.
