Description

Candide by Voltaire is a satirical novella that follows a series of characters as they navigate a world filled with hardship and absurdity. Despite endless misfortunes, the characters cling to the optimistic philosophy that "all is for the best in the best of all possible worlds." Voltaire satirizes Enlightenment ideals by questioning the nature of optimism, suffering, and human folly. This is the front cover of an aged copy of Candide. The page has yellowed over time, and there are signs of wear. The title is. printed in French text on the page, it reads, "Candide, Ou L'Optimisme, Traduit Dr L'Allemand Dr Mr. Le Docteur Ralph."
