Great auction sale of slaves, at Savannah, Georgia, March 2d and 3d, 1859
This is an account of The Weeping Time in Savannah, Georgia, when 429 slaves were sold in a matter of two days at the Broeck racetrack. All of the slaves belonged to Pierce M. Butler, and many slave families were broken up.
